The Reader Problems Tag

2

I was tagged by Summer @Xingsings to do the Readers Problems Tag (thanks for the tag!) This will be the start of me actually completing my tags, as I am so behind (lol).

  1. You have 20,000 books on your TBR. How in the world do you decide what to read next?

I don’t have 20,000 books in my TBR. I have 14, because I don’t like my list being piled up. Sometimes I read books that aren’t in my TBR. It depends what I am in a mood for. This might be considered as cheating but I have deleted some books in my TBR because either I’ve lost interest or it’s been sitting my pile for a long time and I don’t feel like I would read it anytime soon.

  1. You’re halfway through a book and you’re just not loving it. Do you quit or are you committed?

I usually don’t like to quit on books and usually I am committed, but I have given up in the past because life is too short to read books that you aren’t enjoying.

  1. The end of the year is coming and you’re so close, but so far away on your Goodreads reading challenge. Do you try to catch up and how?

I can either accept that I won’t be able to complete my challenge because reading can take up a lot of time and there is no point in forcing yourself to catch up or I can read a lot of very short stories.

  1. The covers of a series you love do. not. match. How do you cope?

I cope just fine. I buy e-books or borrow from the library now, so it doesn’t bother me. I haven’t actually come across a book where covers do not match. The book series that I love do match, as I don’t read many series. My only favourites are Harry Potter, Mortal Instruments, the Infernal Devices and the Unwind Dystology 🙂

  1. Everyone and their mother loves a book you really don’t like. Who do you bond with over shared feelings?

I can only bond via online. Not many of my friends like to or have the time to read.

  1. You’re reading a book and you are about to start crying in public. How do you deal?

I’d stop reading. Leave the tears for when you are at home. I’m not one to express feels in public. It’s a bit embarrassing.

  1. A sequel of a book you loved just came out, but you’ve forgotten a lot from the prior novel. Will you re-read the book? Skip the sequel? Try to find a synopsis on Goodreads?

Mostly likely I’d just read it up on Wikipedia. I don’t reread as much as I should. I brought the complete HP collection, so I could reread them but I haven’t done that yet…

  1. You do not want anyone. ANYONE. borrowing your books. How do you politely tell people nope when they ask?

No one asks to borrow my books. Like I said not many of my friends like to read, or haven’t expressed their enthusiasm to it anyway. My Stephen King fan friend likes horror. Another friend likes real life ghost stories and my friend’s sister likes classics but she goes through phases. And that sadly is all of my book-loving friends in real life lol.

  1. You’ve picked up and put down 5 books in the last month. How do you get over your reading slump?

I’ve had reading slumps before and what I’d do is read psychology thrillers because they’re really entertaining and also non-fiction. I question what I really really want to read. If I’ve read too much of the same genre (YA contemporary for example), then I’d branch out to a different genre.

  1. There are so many new books coming out that you’re dying to read! How many do you actually buy?

I would usually just buy one book, but I won’t read it straight away.

  1. After you’ve bought the new books you can’t wait to get to, how long do they sit on your shelf before you get to them?

Hopefully not too long! My reading goal has always been read one book a week, so I can get through it easier.

  1. Haha, I love that you’re a Cassandra Clare fan as well. 😀 And you’re not the only one when it comes to deleting books off the TBR, I periodically do that since my reading taste often changes. Speaking of updating my GR and the TBR pile though, I actually just finished cleaning my GR the other day… And my TBR went from 200 something to 500… I know, bad Summer! XD But I finally added all the books I physically owned too, which was my ultimate goal. 😀 Anyway, thank you for participating, Thuong! I really enjoyed learning more about you. ^.^

    1. Thanks! Love Cassie Clare’s books ❤ Good to hear I'm not the only one 😉 The books currently in my TBR (apart from unreleased) I don't feel bothered to read them but kind of feel I'll get it to at some point… but there is just so many great books to read. Oh wow 500 books! Thats going to be a big challenge to get through XD Its no problem, it was fun to answer! 😉

      1. Well my TBR is just kind of just there as well. I don’t really go off of that list or shelf. Like having a TBR has never stopped me from grabbing a non-TBR-listed book at the library! 😛 I guess they’re friendly reminders of books that people have recommended me more so. 🙂

  2. I do the same as what you did for the TBR! I’m very much a mood reader so that factors into it a lot. I’m not much of a TBR planner but I know that if I expressed interest in a novel at some point, it’s likely that I won’t end up interested it two months later when I see it at the library.
On the other hand, crying in public is something I’m not too sure about. I feel like, knowing my personality, I wouldn’t care because my usual reasoning is that I won’t see any of the people around me again. But crying in public is also awkward because I think it’d make people around me uncomfortable. I’ll have to think about it for my answer.
    Thanks for tagging me!

    1. Your welcome! Looking forward to reading your answers 🙂 Yes thats true, the people you see today – you won’t see tomorrow! Most likely they’re probably just ignore you, but yes, incredibly awkward.
