Dashing Through The Snow and ‘Tis the Season Book Tags

Hello all ^_^

Between this month and the last, I haven’t been good at keeping up with tags and writing book reviews altogether. I’ve been on a hiatus! November and December have been two busy months, but I was tagged by the lovely Summer @Xing Sings, so I thought I better take part in these tags before Christmas and because they seem like fun.

I have a Instagram for my illustrations but recently I finally created a Bookstagram – @ireeadthereforeiam. I wanted to create one for a while, so I did on a whim and am excited to be posting bookish posts 🙂

Dashing Through the Snow

Name a book you’d like to see under your Christmas tree?

The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare because I read them as e-Books. I’m not sure whether I like the new covers because the font is a bit…bold? I prefer the old ones.

A book you’ll be reading during the Christmas season?

I’ve been reading all sorts of books. Not all is Christmas-related. I want to say Ballet Shoes by Noel Streatfeild, as I recently brought it but afraid I won’t have time to read it for this month.

This is a scene from Ballet Shoes (2007) starring Emma Watson and created by the BBC. One of my favourite scenes in the film.

Favorite Christmas movie?

I adored Annie because of the music, it’s very catchy and the ending was just the icing on the cake, it was wonderful. Home Alone is another one of my faves, it is just a Christmas classic.

Do you like snow?

When I was little I did, a lot. As I gotten older, I don’t really like it as much because of the ice and brown slush, other than that it is beautiful. Nice to photograph as well. It hasn’t snowed in the last two years in London and I’m not complaining.

Name a character you would like to spend Christmas day with?

I’m going to go with Summer’s answer and say the Weasleys!! I think it would be really fun. I can just imagine the pranks that George and Fred will play on Percy! It’s never a dull moment with the Weasleys.

To give or to receive?

To give. I love buying presents for people! It’s lovely receiving presents but it just feels nice to give. Just to watch them open them and seeing how much they like it. I don’t celebrate Christmas, so the only time I get to buy presents is for my friends’ birthday. The last person I brought presents for, I literally spoiled her and this is how it looked like all wrapped up 🙂 I’m all about the attention to detail! I use paper shopping bags as wrapping paper.

What fictional place would you like to spend Christmas at?

Definitely Hogsmeade! That would be a magical place.

Fondest Christmas memory?

The only time I actually celebrated Christmas was when I was thirteen because I really wanted to. I had a tree in the living room with all the decorations and the presents under the tree. Never have I been so excited on Christmas Day to wake up and open all my presents, whilst also watching Christmas films.

Can you say “Christmas tree” ten times fast in a row (while pronouncing them correctly)?

Sorry, I couldn’t be bothered to say Christmas Tree ten times! XD

‘Tis the Season

1. Do you have a favorite winter read?

Not exactly. I read whatever I feel in the mood for. It doesn’t specifically have to be a winter read. I think Harry Potter is a nice winter read 🙂

2. Find a book with blue on the cover!

All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven. Read it as a e-Book but as I liked it so much I wanted a physical copy. It was a birthday gift from my dad when we went out into London.

Also my favourite book (and favourite cover!) from the HP series.

3. Find a book you’d use as the star on a Christmas tree!

Hmm… maybe Night Owls by Jenn Bennet because of the colour gold in the spray paint typography. That’s how bright a star should shine.

4. Pick one fictional place that would be perfect for a winter vacation!

I feel like I’ve answered this question already but it is Hogsmeade. I mean what could be better? I’d love to get my very own Ravensclaw sweater.

6. Name one book on your wish list this year!

Already answered this question from the Dashing Through Snow tag, so I’ll give you a different answer. The Mistborn trilogy by Brandon Sanderson.

7. Favorite holiday drink, treat, & movie?

Drink: I’m going to say a white hot chocolate even though I’ve only had it once at the Boston Tea Party (cafe). It tasted so good and different from the ordinary hot chocolate.

Treat: Melt in the middle chocolate dessert or a salted caramel muffin.

Film: Annie and Home Alone.

8. Who do you tag?

I have absolutely no clue XD Going to select bloggers at random:

The Bibliothèque
Bea @ When Curiosity Killed The Cat
Kat Impossible @ Life and Other Disasters
Cintia @ Reflection of the Books
CW @ Read, Think, Ponder
Jeanette @ Myriads Inklings
Cristina @ My Tiny Obsessions

  1. Ah, your photos! 😍 I am so very happy that you decided to create a bookstagram! And oh my gosh, I had no idea Emma Watson was in a ballet movie. I think I’d like that one. I’ve always been interested in dance (I watch choreos and documentaries on dance all the time, lol). And I second your opinion on the new Cassie Clare covers. The font is a bit in your face. However, I’ve been wanting to collect them (and the HP castle box set) for a while anyway (I like the illustrations at least). …but then again it’s too impractical to own two books intentionally, even if it’s my favorites. XD

    1. Thanks, Summer! I thought a bookstagram was something missing from my blog, the only problem is having to sign in and out lol. Yeah you should watch Ballet Shoes, it’s really good! It’s a bit like a fairytale tbh. I agree, dance choreography always looks so amazing! The font is like a lime-mustard colour? I don’t like it and yes, its very in your face! I think the artwork looks amazing nonetheless. There’s too much going on in the covers. Haha, yes very impractical, I mean where are you going to put it? lol. That’s how publishers make money when they decide to redesign covers XD
Awe thank you! Oh its on a birthday card 😉

      1. I wish there was some easier way to manage multiple Instagram accounts. My personal one is so dead (the last time I posted something was when I was in high school lol). And I haven’t seen the actual covers (of the new Cassie Clare books) yet; I’ve only admired their spines, hehe. But lime-mustard sounds kind of unpleasant… XD

      2. Yeah me too! That’d make life easier. Aw is it? You could try and post something every now and again. My art instagram was actually meant to be a personal one to began with but I enjoyed posting drawings 🙂
Agreed! Their spines looked gorgeous ❤ I first saw it in an unboxing on youtube and thought, right I need them! But then I saw it on amazon and that font is just ugh XD I hate all the little advertisements like, 'soon to be a TV series!' or 'NY's no.1 bestseller!' I don't know, I'm just picky with my books lol.

      3. Aw, I think your posting quite regularly with your bookstagram! I often have to look on other people’s posts for inspiration XD Thanks! I wish I could post more regularly though. Drawing just takes so long!
